This 13- day long trip includes 8 days of moderate trekking and cultural visits in Kathmandu Valley.
“Thame Authentic” trek gives you an opportunity to explore the Himalayas as you continue through spectacular scenery to the village of Thame (3840m). The program is specially designed for the trekkers to enjoy the taste of adventure along with the visits to the ancient monasteries located throughout the trail.
Thame, situated in the western corner of the Khumbu Valley, is internationally recognized as the home of renowned mountaineers such as Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, the first man to climb Mount Everest, Ang Rita Sherpa, known as “Snow Leopard” and Apa Sherpa, nineteen times Everest summiter.
The accommodation of this trek is based on the deluxe lodges of Yeti Mountain Home chain distributed in Phakding, Namche, Thame, Monjo and Lukla.
The program concludes with the cultural visits to the monuments and temples in Kathmandu listed by UNESCO as World Heritages Sites, which will provide you with the insight of rich variety of Nepali traditions and religions.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Kathmandu (1400 m)

On your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu you will be welcome by your representative. A short drive will bring you to Gokarna Forest Resort. You will be served a welcome drink and briefed on the itinerary. In order to proceed with the formalities, your documents required for this trek will be collected.

Day 2: Kathmandu - Lukla (2850 m) – Phakding (2610 m), 3 hours

An exciting early morning flight to Lukla by Tara Air will bring you to Khumbu Valley, the home for Everest and Sherpa ethnic group. After 10- minute walk from the airport you will reach Yeti Mountain Home Lodge in Lukla where your lunch will be served.
Lukla, situated at an altitude of 2866m, is your trekking starting point. From now onwards you will be assisted by a local English-speaking guide and a porter.

Day 3 : Phakding- Monjo (2835 m), 3 hours

After the breakfast you will continue your trek towards your next destination Monjo.
The trails follow the left bank of Dudh Koshi River, pass through the forest and bring you to the village of Chumow.
You will cross numerous suspension bridges before you reach Monjo.
YMH Monjo lodge gives you a spectacular view of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru.

Day 4 : Monjo – Namche (3440 m), 4-5 hours

Today you will enter the Sagarmatha National Park, where your permit (TIMS) and fee will be collected. Afterwards you will continue upstream along the banks of the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Kosi rivers.
An amazing scenery of the peaks of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8511m), Nuptse (7879m), Arna Dablam (6856m) and Tayouche (6542m) come into view for the first time. A challenging steep walk will lead you to Khumbu Valley’s capital, Namche Bazaar, a vibrant village situated at elevated altitude on the traditional trading route from Tibet.

Day 5 : Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar.

It is advisable for your better acclimatization to do a short hike. A walk to the Everest View Hotel, for example, will additionally provide you the first spectacular views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. In the village of Khunde you can visit the hospital and the school built by the late Sir Edmund Hillary. From here Thamserku, Kangtega, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Everest and Kongde Ri are seen.

Day 6 : Namche - Thame (3840m), 5-6 hours

After exploring Namche, you will continue your trek till Thame (3820m). You will later cross a suspension bridge which provides you some great views of water erosion, carved in the rock by the seasonal changes. This beautiful hike through juniper and pine woods overlooking the Bhote Koshi river takes you to Thame village.
Thame, nestled among beautiful peaks rising on all side, was a home village to Tenzing Norgay who together with Ed Hillary successfully climbed Mount Everest in 1953.

Day 7 : Excursion in Thame (3840m), 5 hours

The day starts with a walk to Thame monastery, dated from 16th centuary, which is situated an hour away from the village.
From there you can reach Sundar Peak, a hill located at 5229 m, if you are willing to make this day even more adventurous. Although this hill is not a very common destination for the trekkers, you will easily reach the top following the trail.
From the top you can admire the pristine beauty of Kongde, Everest, Makalu, Pharcharmo, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Kangtega and Kusum Kang.

Day 8 : Thame – Namche, 4 hours

After the early morning trek and having crossed several long suspension bridges, you will return to Namche.

Day 9 : Namche – Lukla, 7 hours

Today you will walk down to Lukla where the unforgettable mountain adventure ends. You will pass by Tamang village on your way.

Day 10 : Lukla - Kathmandu

Early morning flight will take you back to Kathmandu. From the airport you will be transferred to your hotel. This is a free day to rest after your trek. The spa facilities available in your hotel may help you to relax.

Day 11 : Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Bhaktapur

After breakfast in the hotel your guide will expect you to start another exciting day. You will be visiting three sites listed by UNESCO as World Heritage.

Pashupatinath: One of the most sacred temples of South Asia dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Bodanath stupa: One of the sanctuaries of a major importance in Buddhist religion.
The area is famous for very high presence of Tibetan refugees and numerous monasteries.
Bhaktapur: This city is known for the rich and unique culture, sophisticated art and craft, architecture, monuments, colorful festivals, and its own lifestyle. The city, in its majority, is inhabited by the Newar ethnic group famous for handicraft and trade skills.

Day 12: Kathmandu

Free day: Take your time walking around Durbar Marg, a fancy avenue that leads to the Narayanhiti Palace Museum. You can also purchase some local souvenirs in Thamel, the most popular touristic area in Kathmandu, where you can find all kinds of facilities and lots of cafes, bars and restaurants.

Day 13 : International departure

You will be transferred to the international airport three hours prior to departure time of the flight back to your home country.
